      No Connection on Start-up

      Hiya

I have a problem with my connection when I start-up.

The signal is not picked up straight away (although it shows in my connections) I am running vista and the connection symbol has a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark.

It does connect eventually, but it is winding me up that I have to wait. I also use the vista diagnostics tool, but to no instant avail.

      Any ideas?

      Thanks in advance

Do you mean 'as soon as' windows desktop appears on or is it that windows has fired up and FULLY loaded. How long are you talking from windows being fully loaded and your hard drive activity stopped?
Things could be starting in the background you are unaware of and the wireless connection could be somewhere down the bottom of your "start up list" so to speak.

Sounds like UPnP bug -- see help files on Sky CD for how to access the router's user interface. Once in turn off UPnP.

      Re: No Connection on Start-up

      Darren78, welcome!

I am running windows vista and experience the same thing (I assume you are referring to the network icon when you boot up your computer).

However, although the icon does not show this, I find that my wireless connection works fine immediately regardless of what the icon is showing. Try and open up internet explorer when you boot up before the icon shows a connection and see if you actually do have a connection.

I believe the delay is the OS doing tests on the connection to check if it is active (e.g. connecting to microsoft.com and seeing if it can find it) and therefore only displays the active connection sign when its test results come through.

If this is not the case however, I do not know what to suggest.

      Chris.

      Thanks guys.

Chrisypea hi, yep that is what I refer to, the icon. However, when I do open IE it does say no connection and I am unable to browse... puzzling.. however, i have noticed there is a connection for a while, then it drops off.. then back on later... about 5 or so mins later... at a guess
