      Jsut enabled 5 hours ago. Going to cancel tomorrow

      Serausly. what was i thinking! switchign to sky?!
      I jsut got enabled with MAX and my line stats should have given me 10/11Mbs
      my Line Attn was 37 and noise was 8/10 i was told i would be able to get double the speed of my current upto 8Mb (my upto 8 sync speed was synced at 5-6Mb while my actualy downlaod speed was 4.5Mb thanks to profiling. )
      Now that i was on ADSL2 i hoped for some improvment! however im at the same speed! and im on regular G.DMT. i called sky they fobbed me off with the explination that the longer away from the exchange the slower it gets bable which i already know and i though ADSL2 could still make an improvment. at least thats what i was told...

      maybe post your stats again in a few hours from what i understand when your on G.DMT (capped) its for a reason im on G.DMT capped getting less than you but for 10 a month whats wrong with that if im right whatever isp you goto will get the same speed i understand about ATTN and all that stuff but if you read about theres so many more factors to it

      i wish you well dont be so hasty and let someone help you on here when you post your stats again maybe you have line errors in the long run

      As above you need to take the stats after a fews hours of use ie downloading etc, there may be a very good reason you have been put on G-DMT you are already showing some CRC errors after 6 minutes!! G-DMT handles line errors better than ADSL2, If you have high line errors then you will suffer from disconnections and instability on ADSL2, I suggest you plug you router into the test socket behind the face plate of your master socket assuming its an NTE5 socket then repost your stats again. Dont forget it is sold as up too 16mb, It is entirely dependent on line condition and distance from exchange which isn't really Skys fault.

      well i tried the test socket, and boom. Full 8Mb sync. yet still on G.DMT this is strange. i dont know whats going on now... never had full 8mb sync before...

      i dont know anything about errors etc but if you wanted to switch over to ADSL+ and you have errors its more trouble than its worth better to have a stable connection than none at all but like i say the experts on here can tell you more about your stats

      Re: Jsut enabled 5 hours ago. Going to cancel tomorrow

      Only Sky can switch it to ADSL2, you now need to run for a few hours hammering the connection ie downloading. Then examine the stats again, if your CRC errors remain low then your line is Ok. You then need to take a look at extension wiring, make sure only pins 2 and 5 are connected in any hard wired extension sockets and in the master. Get rid of any plug in extension leads cos they are know for causing noise issues. If errors remain low then you have a case for going back to Sky and asking to be switched to ADSL2 which should bump your speed up further.

      Koala5, thanks, after 45mins connection of running a few speed tests and playing games, im still synced at 8mb and have 9 CRC. What Is a Low CRC count and hwhat is a high count?

      Try this:-
      PLEASE READ FIRST: How to obtain and post router stats
      Useful Links
      Download RouterStats (useful utility for continuously recording noise margin)

      Very rough rule of thumb is CRC should not exceed 0.1% of SF transmitted.

      Total time = 5 min 49 sec
      SF = 18995
      CRC = 1
      LOS = 0
      LOF = 0
      ES = 1

      ^So from your second set of stats above CRC's shouldn't exceed 18.

      From your first set of stats below you shouldn't have exceeded 22

      SF = 22465
      CRC = 52
      LOS = 18
      LOF = 0
      ES = 12
