      Trying to connect old router

I am trying to connect my old dg834gt router with my sky login details which i have managed to extract.
The reason i want to do this is i am only connecting at 6.8meg on my max connection.I have seen other post where they have tried their old routers and got better speed.I complained to sky when i was first connected that i was only at 8meg at the time now after a few days it has gone down to 6.8 because tier 3 have resynced my line .

Anyway i put in my user name and password also changed it to multiplex VC and VPI/VCi to 0/38 and i cannot get it to connect i get the error lpt down check configuration password user name etc.

Any ideas to what i might have done wrong.

Try copy and pasting your login details from the Notepad you extracted them to, rather than typing them. There is less chance of a small mistake. Compare your login name to the MAC of the router.
