      speed question

im sorry if im posting this in the wrong place , im a bit lost

i have sky broadband max and the distance from me to the nearest exchange is only 130 metres

i am getting about 2.6mbs speeds according to Bandwidth Speed Test

      on speedtest.net it says 7021kbs

should i be getting higher speeds than this ?

also , if im not using a wireless connection , i.e . . just going from the modem to the ethernet port , will people be able to get a wireless connection from me ? steal it i mean

      thanks for any help given

      Re: speed question

I'm not much on bandwidth speeds etc but I can help you with the wireless bit.

To access the router type 192.168.0.1 and then use the login name admin and password sky .

If you are not going to use wi-fi at all the easiest solution is to turn off the wi-fi functionality of the router off, by going to the wireless settings page and unchecking the Enable Wireless Access Point box which will turn off the wi-fi completely and the wi-fi symbol on your router will turn off to show that it's not on anymore.
