      Still Going Strong

The cat has got over the initial shock of having a useless piece of junk thrown at it.
I am still on line and counting the hours. I expect tomorrow it will back to square one and disconnections all day.
I have IE, Firfox, & Netscape all on my PC and by far the best is Firefox. (A brilliant Browser it puts IE to shame)
If it keeps the connection up “who needs the thrown in @sky.com email” Googlemail does nicely on MS Outlook.

      Its Gone!

What did I say it’s gone? Disconnected after 14 hours. I have had to send this Post on my old Dial Up ISP. I certainly will not be getting rid of my Dial Up.

      Keith,

what about all the suggestions given in your original thread:

Perhaps the moderators could merge these 2 threads to keep things tidy?

There is an interesting theory to the random disconnections over at the Digispy forums. I don't profess to understand what it actually means thou!

Not Me Never Used Digital Spy

Before his SKYBB Keith was on dial up.... I totally agree that the access to the sky portal appear to be Sky's problem and that they haven't set his account up properly, but as for the disconnections...... I'm not sure.

How far is Keith from his exchange,
Does he have a dodgy BT phone line (whilst it is Sky's equipment in the exchange, it is still BT's copper wire going from the exchange to his house, so could it be BTs fault)
Does he have dodgy internal wiring/exentsions (again not Sky's fault and not BTs fault, but his own)
Is his PC set up correctly... maybe the network card is faulty or there is some other software that is conflicting to cause the dropouts.

My gut feeling is that it is a problem with BTs copper wire and/or his own internal cabling as opposed to any problem actually with Sky (based on his postings over at Digispy).

It's very difficult to help out for problems such as this and you need to eliminate each bit at a time.

Try unplugging all other phone equipment and plug the router into the microfilter directly into the master BT socket.

Try borrowing somone else PC/Laptop that is known to work fine and provided a stable broadband connection (as keith used to be on dial up, is his pc equipment up to the job).

Run a fault checker using the BT site to see if that picks up anything on his line (not the best test in the world as I had major noise on my line and it didn't pick this up).

Check to see if any of your close neighbours have a) ADSL with no problems and b)SkyBB.

I really appreciate how frustraing these problems can be, but you need to be patient and discount each potential reason before pointing the finger.
PLEASE CHECK YOU INFO FIRST BEFORE TAKING A SWIPE AT ME. I NEVER USED DIGITALSPY THANKS The Wrong KH I Think)

Keith if that is the case, then perhaps you can understand peoples confusion, Your posts are very similar his and you have chosen the same username knowing that that poster was banned from a site members here will have read. You also seem to have exactly the same problems.

You yourself have indicated that this was your earlier home.

Thanks for your help and for trying.
I do find that people are very helpful on this forum compared to others like Digital Spy to name but a few.
It’s a great Forum designed purely for Sky. Keep Up the Good Work.

The assumption was far from unreasonable.
