There is no charge when you take Max.

I was told that you need to be on for one month before you can change the package.

Sign up to MAX and then drop down after 1 month? Maybe complain that you're not getting anything like the full speeds and you want to downgrade?

It might not be so easy, you sign up for 12 months and if you want to downgrade in the first month, you would be breaking the agreement. Sky would probably be within their rights to request the connection fee, as you have not fulfilled your part of the agreement. You may get away with it if your speed is very bad.

One of the Sky bods posted a bit on changing before the first month is up, but I can't remember where it is.
