      Connected Today

      I have just been connected to sky max today and so far all is ok except for one thing.I have signed up for max UP TO 16MB.I am connected at only 8096 kbps which is exactly what i was on with nildram.I understand that i should only get UP TO 16 MB connection but i find it strange that i am the same as my old 8meg connection speed.

      Here are some stats if that is any good for you.

      You need to let it run for a few hours then post your detailed stats using the proceedure below.

      Mognut’s Utility
      Go to the utility web site: Sky Netgear DG834GT utility version 0.4
      Click the “Get” detailed modem stats button and click “OK”.
      Enter the router login user name and password.
      At the next screen, click the back button on your browser.
      Click the “Download” netgear.cfg button.
      What you do next depends on your operating system. On Windows XP, click the “Save” button to save the file to your hard disk. (If you click “Open”, you may find that the file association is one that doesn’t handle carriage returns the same way as the router, hence the reason for saying “Save”.)
      Open the file in WordPad (not notepad).

      everyone who migrates from another ISP to sky will more than likely be set to 8MB/gdmt - get on the blower to tech and you need to go to tier 3 to set the line properly - if those line stats are right you should be fine with nearly the full 16MB...so long the line is in good enuff working order

      Yep your stats look fine, no reason it shouldn't go at full wack. Ask Sky to switch you to ADSL2.

      Sky dont half have a long winded approach to there tech support.I now have a ticket for tier 3 to investigate and this can take upto 5 days! I told the woman i needed to go onto ADSL2 which she agreed that i did, but i still have to go to tier 3.Are they more competent at that level to do this for me?

      im no expert but from reading threads i think tier 3 are the guys that sort out everything everyonelse are go betweens there is somewhere on here a description of what the different levels do
