Question send virgin e-mail using sky.

I used to use virgin untill I got sky installed. I find that I can't send virgin e-mails thro sky, although I can receive virgin e-mails thro sky connection. What settings are required to use an alternative E-mail provider, still using the sky broadband connection.

you can not send a e-mail using smtp server if it is not your isp anymore so you have to set up you outlook to send with sky but you can keep you reply address as @virgin.com or ntlworld.com so you do not have to change your e-mail address (smtp.sky.com pop.sky.com)

Re: send virgin e-mail using sky.

You can send virgin emails while on Sky broadband, I do it. You just set Outlook to use the sky smtp server for outgoing mail and the virgin.net pop server as the incoming mail.

the following settings are on my outlook client

      Incoming mail server (POP3) : pop.virgin.net
      Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.sky.com

I double checked this and sent an email to another account and it was from my virgin.net account not my sky account.
Feel the Fear and do it anyway

Re: send virgin e-mail using sky.

      Hi

I really need help with this one. I have gone to the virginmedia selfservice website and its downloaded settings to my outlook, changed my outgoing mail server as well as the port for the outgoing mail yet i still cant send any emails from outlook.

I have an @ntlworld.com account and i've looked on all the forums but cant find anything that seems to work for me. I've tried smtp.sky.com, smtp.tools.sky.com

does anyone have any more suggestions apart from sticking a stamp on the top of my laptop so i know its going to get there?!

I believe it is smtp.tools.sky.com now and you need to have enabled it in your SKY e-mail account, the functionality as written above should be the same.

The OP is now over 3 years old. A lot has changed in email terms with Sky etc.

      Have a read of this.
