      @leamingtonspaceman:
      You only need to enter the DNS settings on the router, and windows XP will sort itself out.

      By default windows will obtain it's IP address and DNS settings from the router anyway, so unless you specify otherwise in your computer's networking setup then chainging the DNS settings on the router will automatically change the DNS settings for everything connecting to the internet through it, if you see what I mean.

      Hi Jason

      afaik Whatever DNS is in the router, the network card will override, so having the Sky DNS in the router and Open DNS in the network card gives a fallback of 4 to use. The Network card will always use the ones in there first, unless I am wrong. If so I apologise, but that's what I would normally do.

      Yes, you're exactly right.

      What I meant though was that there's probably no need to enter any DNS settings on the network card at all, because it'll almost certainly be set to obtain it's DNS automatically from the router.

      Sorry if I wasn't being clear.

      That's the bit that's up to you! Either will work just fine. By default the router will use sky's DNS automatically (even if it's not actually the router that was provided to you by sky) but if you want to use openDNS then you can manually configure the router to use this instead, as I do.
