      Connection Clash Problem

Seems that whenever the phone is in use, the internet connection drops and struggles to reconnect. Wireless signal is showing excellent, and it's sending data so don't think that's the problem. The current setup is phone socket into three way splitter (Sky box, phone, router), and then the router cable runs through a filter and then into the router itself. Went for this method because we don't have a single cable long enough. Connection is great, until someone uses the phone when it drops and won't reconnect. Was wondering whether this is because the phone takes up some of the socket's 'bandwidth', leaving the router struggling? Should we change the filter to come before the splitter and buy a longer, higher quality cable?

      Thanks,

      Sam

      Re: Connection Clash Problem

If the phone causes connection problems then it is probably a filter problem - either a faulty filter, missing filter or incorrectly fitted. The latter sounds likely in your case. It could be a faulty phone but that is the least likely.

You must have a filter for each phone device e.g. phone, fax, digibox etc.

On a separate note I'd be surprised if your 3-way splitter and extension cable isn't seriously messing up your connection speed and stability. Spend a few bob on sorting this out. See the cabling and faceplate help forum for more info.

Reading this, I think I've got it. You don't have the PHONE running through the FILTER.

A friend of ours just plugged their phone into the socket without the filter, and they had the same problem. A soon as they put a filter on, Broadband was OK.

it should be socket->filter->broadband on modem side/splitter for phone/tv on the phone side....otherwise bb isn't being filtered off and no wonder its been giving you grief!!

and higher quality cable will stop ur toaster from interfereing but not much improvement apart from that. DSL2 supported to master socket, higher frequency shorter range. LIke FM radio, u don't get radio one in japan but u might just get world service long wave
It doesn't get better than this band lol
