You're querying why your download speed is so low but aren't giving any info on what your line attenuation is or your router sync speed. Without this it is impossible to give any advice.

So yes, your stats from your Sky router would be better than none.

As I've tried to explain to you before, download speed is not the same as sync speed. For instance your router could be syncing at a great speed but you're connected wirelessly and are getting a poor quality signal. This would give you a poor download speed despite your connection being fine.

I've also tried wired, if this matters. So I'll plug in the Sky router now. Before I do, what exactly am I looking for?

Your attenuation and sync speed would be a good start.

Oh look - I've just said that in the previous post

      Re: Improve BB speed?

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 3776 kbps 768 kbps
Line Attenuation 53.0 db 31.5 db
Noise Margin 7.1 db 13.0 db

My attenuation seems to be quite high. Is this because there is an extension cable attactched?

The line attenuations quite high suggesting your quite far from your exchange! meaning.......your speed at 3 meg isnt as bad as you seem to think! ( Get rid of the extension cable and plug the router into your MAIN bt phone point ) and also post your full stats.
Your paying 10 for the MAX service which is "UP TO 16 Meg" so if your line can only hold 3 meg then 3 meg is all you will get and no amount of whinging will make it better.
What were you getting BEFORE you came to Sky Broadband?
