There must be an easier way!

      Hi,

My exchange has just been LLU'd by Sky/Easynet (whooooeee) - I would dearly love to take up one of the Sky packages (including BB obviously), but my line rental is currently with TalkTalk rather than BT. In the past the best advice has been to try and get back onto BT's books for a period and then go SKY. Surely there must be an easier way now?

I just wonder if Sky are considering catering for folk like myself and making life a bit easier - say by offering line rental as well. Has anything changed, or will it still be a terrible palaver with the loss of BB for some months in the interim?

      Cheers

Personally I'd hold off for few months - I don't want to say too much, cos I'm not sure what's actually public but there are currently Sky Talk Line Rental trials for staff...

You'd need a working BT line for around 5 working days to get Sky BB...

Many thanks for the heads up - but I'm slightly confused - does your second reply relate to even if the Sky Line Rental becomes a go - or does it refer to the present.

      Cheers

I don't think it matters who you pay the rental to, as long as it is a BT line connected to a BT exchange. There are a few private suppliers and cable of course, who don't qualify. Have you tried putting your number into the Sky Checker and see what response you get.

Interesting thought. But I'm even more confused in the sense that my present contract is a bundle of BB, phone, and line rental, so I'm not sure how it would work out unless Sky could take over the whole package.

The line checker incidentally says I can get any BB up to Sky Max (I'm less than 1/2 a mile from the exchange).

      Cheers

That could make a difference! You may have to pay up your minimum period with TT, to get out of the contract

I don't mind paying the percentage cancellation fee - so long as the transition could take place, preferably without involving the intermediate step of BT, and the least BB disruption.

      Cheers
