Yeh I know about the risks of no encryption, but thats the only way it will work :\ I make sure no one else is connecting to the router.

This are the stats from the main socket (no the test one, as I dont want to mess anything up whilst revising)

      Not significantly different I'm afraid.

When you get the time you need to try your test socket.

Re: Slow speeds and Cutting Out Wireless

I've also got very poor page loading times and download speeds
I'm on the 2mb package, and my speed tests usually give c 1650Kbps from the dsl zone, today its showing 242, 88% below my supposed 2mb.
I've raised 2 t3 tickets in the past. 1 called when we were away, after 3weeks of raising it, the other from 4 weeks ago hasn't called me yet. I made another support call today, which they said they would email to t3 straight away and they would phone me, I wont hold my breath.

I'm with the Guildford exchange and am 1 mile away, and my supposed max speed available is 3Mb

      my router stats are:
      System Up Time 27:20:29
Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time
      WAN PPPoA 19 14 0 53 50 00:00:30
      LAN 10M/100M 164112 146656 0 1321 348 27:20:27
      WLAN 11M/54M 2957 0 0 7 0 27:20:17

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 288 kbps 416 kbps
Line Attenuation 50.0 db 31.5 db
Noise Margin 19.1 db 14.0 db

I was staggered at the connection speeds negotiated

I rebooted my modem a few minutes ago.
I have previously tried my master socket which is downstairs and speed was very little different to upstairs. But it's not a task I can do often. My monitor is a 21 inch sony triton and weighs a ton, needs three people to move it!

Any help would be greatly appreciated
      Regards

      David M Wicker

Re: Slow speeds and Cutting Out Wireless

I'm afraid your calls to T3 have triggered them capping you - presumably because they found significant line errors.

To get a decent speed back you're going to have to solve the error problem (line noise) and then ask to be uncapped.

You'll find a lot of helpful info in the cabling and faceplate forum. Similar problems are posted at least half a dozen times a day - if not there then other forums.

Before you call Tech support again, try your test socket and see if that improves things.

Re: Slow speeds and Cutting Out Wireless

      Hi Guys
As I said, my vdu needs 3 people to carry it down stairs so that I can test the msocket
not too easy when you're on your own
did a soft reset from the modem control panel, and either that, or t3 intervention has returned normality, 1667Kbps
      the router stats now are:
      System Up Time 04:01:13
Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time
      WAN PPPoA 16 14 0 99 101 00:00:15
      LAN 10M/100M 8948 7538 0 549 81 04:01:11
      WLAN 11M/54M 585 0 0 10 0 04:01:01

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 2048 kbps 416 kbps
Line Attenuation 49.0 db 30.5 db
Noise Margin 13.4 db 13.0 db

      Your router stats say 2048kbps.

In any event your attenuation should be able to support ~6000kbps so you've got a pretty big problem somewhere.

      Oh, and you're still capped.
