Question McAfee Privacy Service - Advice Please

As suggested in reply to a previous problem I was having, I have now uninstalled the McAfee Privacy Service to get around the problem of not being able to review certain website/make purchases online, etc.

I would be grateful if anyone could advise me if I need to replace this with anything else to ensure my security? (I am a novice!)

      Thank you.

A recent Computer Shopper review suggested that AVG (free version) was better than McAfee or Norton.

Like many Skyuser members, I use Avast which is also free. I keep the Windows firewall on and infrequently use Ccleaner, Adaware and Spybot

I agree wit Mr fihart here, there are much better products out then then McAfee which seems to cause as many issues as it solves. My personal choice is Avast, with Zone Alarm as a back up firewall (handy for keeping an eye on programs wanting internet access). I also use a couple of spyware programs as suggested above.
