I just plugged my router back in on the off chance that it would connect and blow me, it did - hope it lasts this time! I've been down for over 24 hours, which I'm hoping is a glitch and a one off, and won't happen again in a hurry!

Might sound a weird question but where is your router situated ?

Is it standing upright and on the legs supplied ?

      As sometimes they may overheat.

Funnily enough, yes, It is vertical using the legs in the box and I did notice on Sunday it was rather warm on the top end. I'll try laying it down flat and see if that makes any difference.

      Re: Sky Down Again

I am back on line again. Eventually I relented and went through the whole thing again with CS, up to T2 this time. Told to switch off for 40 mins, switched back on and it is connected. I don't really know if switching it off did anything as it was switched off all night. I think they may have done something while it was off.

@Digiiboxer - Don't put the router flat or it will overheat.

Ah, from 'tdbsolutions' post, I thought it was getting hot because I had it upright (so to speak!) .. I had lay it flat following that, so now I'll put it up again. (Sounds like a sentence from a Carry On film lol). Cheers

      Re: Sky Down Again

I'm back on now too. I ran the ping test for my router and that was fine. I looked up that http://192.168.0.1 to check my router status. There was that button down at the bottom for checking my connection. The pop-up page said I was disconnected and clicking the connect button yielded no results. I kept on messing about and then lo and behold, it said I was connected. Hooray!! At last!! Mind you, I've spent a fair bit using the UK Free dial-up service today and yesterday.

Lord, I hope this is a one-off aberration. Anyone heard why this glitch happened? I called the Sky helpline but decided not to press on with this line of enquiry as I got hold of some Indian lady and I did not feel her English was up to anything other than the standard queries. I am sure it was no fun for her to have to field calls from all sorts of irate customers and I did not wish to add my tuppenny's worth.

      Re: Sky Down Again

My connection went down as well (i'm on the connect package). Spent about 10 minutes fiddling with the router and gave up. Unplugged the router completey and left it for a few hours. Came back, plugged it all back in and everything was working.

It always seems to be around the bank holidays when things go pearshaped for Sky broadband.
