      Muppets Pipex ----> Sky progress

      Got my letter from Sky on the 30th of August with my username and password, and it said they would be in touch shortly and that they would let me know when my router would be sent.

      Over the last few days my internet has been slow and had a variety of disconects showing in the log.

      Today rang Sky to ask for an update....

      They told me that the system showed that I was all completed - but obviously i have no router here so.... She said that everyone who was activated this week would receive their router on Saturday (today) or Monday.

      I think she is right, as my router (DG834) shows a connection speed of 2.8mb and upload of 440 which is odd for my 1mb Pipex connection !

      Seem that my line has been activated by sky, and I have sky and pipex broadband on the line at the moment ! (although the router reports 2.8mb i am currently capped at 1mb presumably by Pipex)

      So, i'm looking forward to my router arriving tomorrow (fingers crossed).

      I don't think it's possible to have both ISP's coming down the same line, Sky would have to pull the plug on your current ISP before you could connect to Sky.

      I thought you had to have a Sky branded router to get Sky broadband also?

      Think you will find Pipex bulk upgraded everybody to >8Mb MaxDSL, then restricted you to your 1Mb contract speed.

      It would have been more economical for them to do things that way round. Then , at a later date, they can simply manage your account/speed without recourse to BT.

      Update 11th Sept...

      A BT engineer has apparently been to the exchange and changed my connection from 1mb to "up to 8mb" and then signed the job off as complete (missing the step of actually moving me onto Sky) - thats why my connection is now 2.8mb but capped at 1mb.

      Im thankful in a way as my sky router still hasnt arrived. Im told by sky that Parceline had promised them they would work saturday and sunday to deliver all the routers, but that they didn't !

      Anyway, I rang parceline who dont have a delivery for me, and sky say i should see if anything comes tomorrow. If not then I have to ring again.

      Meanwhile they are going to ask BT what they did at the exchange !

      Steve

      I would have agreed with you before today...

      I received my sky router, unplugged my fully working Pipex Netgear one, plugged in sky and it worked immediately.... - It seems I have Pipex and Sky Broadband on the same line (obviously I cant use both !!!)
