True, but why would they throttle Connect but not any of there other packages?
The other packages are supplied through Sky's own equipment which does not cost them the same, as they are only renting rack space in the exchange.

      Re: Do I leave Sky?

When i download with either off the net or torrents, i have noticed that my router constantly resets itself.

I tried doing the BT speedtester again and I havent been able to finish a test once yet, when all im doing is the test no downloading and the router resets itself and it always ends on 96%. The test is always 135kbps.

am i capped by BT at 135? can that still be even though on my router stats im gettin 6-7mb? what exactly should I do?

      Re: Do I leave Sky?

spoke too soon, about the 9th time i managed to complete a test, here are my results:

Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
IP profile for your line is - 135 kbps
      DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM) 6592 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 54 kbps

so does this test mean im capped at 135?

That is your IP profile set by BT.

Sky can request that it is reset, however if your line is stable for approx 72 hours, then this should go back up automatically.

Give it 3 days, then ring Sky.

      Re: Do I leave Sky?

KITZ has a very good 'tutorial' on MaxDSL on her site. The unfortunate thing about it is, if your speed drops for any reason for a few minutes, it is reset and can take up to 3 days to get back to normal. There is nothing anyone can do about it, it is one of the crosses we bear for being on Connect, instead of Base, Mid or Max. It would not matter what ISP you were with, the procedure is the same.

There is just one thing I am not sure of, BT have an 'acceptable standard' for ADSL, which I think is something ridiculous like 160kbps, if you are below that, you can report a fault. I seem to remember that when you do the BT speed test and are below that figure, you are advised to contact your ISP for further tests. Did you see anything like that when you did the test?

      Re: Do I leave Sky?

yeah, I treid doing the test to read the wirting at the end but again it just keeps reseting the router over and over, so I give up. I do remember something about contacting the ISP about it though so I think your right.

If its reset itself again, then these 3days will take a long time, I will speak to sky, hopefully get through to tier2 where thay can assist me.

Annoying there going to have to go through that damn tier1 troubleshooter I know off by heart
