New Connection - Move to ADSL2

      Hi All,

I was connected yesterday and my line stats are as follows:

      Download Speed: 8096 kbps
      Line Attenuation: 27 db
      Noise Margin: 12.1-13.0 db

Can I even get ADSL2 on my line, and how clued up are support to getting this done for me? I keep reading horror stories of Tier1 not knowing what ADSL2 is!!!

I am about 75 meters away from my exchange, so very very close.

Any guidance would be welcome. Thanks

I would extract your detailed stats using this Sky Netgear DG834GT utility version 0.4 and post them here one of the more technical guys will tell if there is any reason you cant get if. If all seems ok, then you just have to convince Sky.

Re: New Connection - Move to ADSL2

I just called Sky to try and convince them but they were having none of it.

I spoke to one girl and asked to get my profile switched to ADSL2 - she says according to their tests I can only get 6MB on the line - I told her that my stats showed otherwise so she put me through to a more "knowledgeable" Tier 1 representative - who gave me the same schpeel - and told me that they will not raise a ticket with Tier 3 because I don't have a technical issue.

He also told me that Tier 3 arent there to switch profiles.

They said if their tests show I can only get 6MB, then that's all I can get. The only option he said I can do is get the pre-sales team to re-test my line - which of course will come back with the 6MB figure...

      Any help? Here's my stats

Re: New Connection - Move to ADSL2

You'll either have to persevere and hope you get a more helpful T1 or suddenly find you have a technical issue.

Your router stats show that your line should handle an ADSL2+ connection fine.

PS You may be only 75m from the exchange but your attenuation shows your line must literally be going round the houses to get to you. I'd estimate ~2km!

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but to me your stats look pretty good.
