      Isitme - you are right.

You can send and recieve email from any email address.

      - you must use the appropriate ISPs pop server for incoming
      - you must always use sky's smtp server for outgoing

If you follow the above you will find you can send email from your plusnet email address.

It was meant to be rather 'tongue in cheek' I am accessing it, but not for long, I will soon have changed all the personal address from it, then I will not have to wade through 30 or 40 spams a day to find them

      Re: Outlook Express Settings

Great news if it works, but i was only using my own experience when i migrated to Sky. I came from Freeserve ( orange ) and could only recieve mail from my orange account. To send mail from my old Orange account i HAVE to log into freeserves online mail page and send from there. Even my old freeserve webpages, i cannot access the FTP folder using Sky.

      Re: Outlook Express Settings

YOu would be able to send your freeserve email using smtp.sky.com as the outgoing server (and sky log in details). It's doesn't care what your email is. YOu could change it to a@b.com and that would work too!

You won't be able to use freeserve ftp thou.

      Re: Outlook Express Settings

Hi All, firstly I'd like to thank you all for the time you have spent on this discussion.
I will give you more details, to give you an Idea of the Issue.
My wife's E Mail is with Wirtualna Polska - www.wp.pl a Polish ISP.
The pop is pop3.wp.pl (This works fine, mail comes in)
The smtp is smtp.wp.pl (This is where the error lay's)

The actual error message I get is:
Outlook could not log onto the outgoing mail server (SMTP). This problem could be the server name, your server may require authentication or your server may not support ssl. Verify authentication and SSL options under more settings.

The issue is, before I recieved Sky Broadband I used BT, and never had any issues with sending / recieving E Mails through her account. Iv'e also tried smtp.sky.com

      Many thanks,
I took your advice in the end and used SMTP for my fotomojo account. Tried using the SMTP for Sky but it didn't work for some reason. I don't really care why because the least I have to do with Sky the better.

Isitme, you a gent for spending your time replying to my queries, and to all the others as well, I hope to help you guy's one day if I can.

Take care for now, my wife's happy now, perhaps she'll stop nagging

      Byeeee.

      Re: Outlook Express Settings

Did you ever get this sorted? I have just joined Sky and am having the same problem, I can access mail but can't send it. Have e-mailed and phoned Sky but have gone round in circles with them.
