      LLU Throughput

I was transferred from Connect to Mid last FRiday and just wondered if the speeds I am getting are normal as I have tried to find out what Sky do for throughput as opposed to what happens on Connect.

My current connection speed is 3232kbps, various speed tests give me throughput of around 2700kbps.

On Connect my connection speed was 2848kbps with various speed tests giving me a throughput of around 2300kbps. I understood this to be becuase BT define what max throughput is allowed on a line with a particular connection sync.

Does Sky LLU operate something similar os is the speed I am getting alright for that sync speed. I ain't complaining though as I feel the line is now more stable than what it was when I was on Connect. I am merely curious is this is right.

      Currect Line Stats:

      Sync Down 3232 / Up 416
      Att Down 62 / Up 31.5
      SNR Down 8.5 / Up 13.0

I am using a Speedtouch 585v6 router as my netgear was a tad temperamental.

      Re: LLU Throughput

Connection speed (sync speed) and download speed (throughput as you describe it) are not the same thing. At best you can expect download speed to be ~85% of the connection speed due to transmission overheads - which is near enough exactly what you're getting..

Thanks for that, I was aware that Connection and Download speeds are not the same, I thought I got that across in my post.

At least I know that I am getting ok speeds, may try to tweak the line and see what I can push it to, will be interesting to see.
