      Odd up/down speeds

      Hi all,

Im new here, mainly due to the fact I've just swopped to Sky. I did have NTL previously.
Im a little confused as to the up/ down speeds. My 'up' speed seems to far out weigh my 'down' speed (which variess between 195kbps to 3500?)I never had this problem with cable. My 'up' seemed to be a constant percentile of my 'down' -usually ten percent.
This is a usual speed test......449down 665 up.
      Is this usual for Sky?
I have ran the 'optimiser' but that only seemed to work for a period. The speeds never seem to be consistant.

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Just noticed the 5568 download stat, never got near that on a speed test.

      Re: Odd up/down speeds

You have massive errors on your line.

Have you tried connecting the router to the test socket underneath the master socket (again see my sig).

      Hi
      Thanks for the quick reply.
The link to 'test master socket' seems to be a bit dead
      Can you post a link?
      Cheers.

      Re: Odd up/down speeds

      Cheers me old muckah!
It could be all the cheepo gubbins they have used to connect the Sky box
(apparently you need to have it connected to the phone line??)
I will have a go at cutting down the copper between the box and post a relpy on here tomorrow night.
Ps how can you tell there are errors on the line?Is there a standardised table of values for the router?
Thanks again for the replies,Ive got something to chew-on!
