I'm with the max package and only getting 56kb

You'll have to excuse me as I'm not exactly a computer expert.

Switched to Sky BB from VM. I got the max package. It came on May 1st and has been ridiculously slow since. I carried out an internet speed test and it told me I only have a 56kb connection which is ridiculously slow compared to what we're used to. Already I've found basic things I use the internet for becoming a chore. Loading youtube videos for example is now an epic struggle.

Frustrated, I dug out all my letters and found one saying my BT line would be active on May 8th, which is this Tuesday. Is this when my internet will go to the speed it is supposed to be? If so I haven't been told anything about this. If this is the speed it is going to stay at then I feel like I've been conned by switching to this provider.

So basically will it take a while for my BB to build up speed or am I stuck with this awful provider? As I said you'll have to forgive me, I don't really know about this kind of stuff in detail. I got Sky BB under the belief it was easy operate.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Assuming you are connected using the sky router, tehn you've already been activated.

Use moguts util in my sig and post back your detailed router stats.

      Welcome Super.
Follow the advice from reddwarf because
      I am no "squint" either.
But first confirm that you are saying that
May 8 is the activation date Sky gave you?
Also watch out that Virgin or BT aren't playing dirty.
Is the green i light on the Sky router lit?

I hope your connection goes as smoothly as mine.
Sometimes the activation date can be late.
The link below will show you my first time set up
which I followed after advice from experts on this site.
