Cool Well the router's been ordered.

      Hi All,

Just the latest news on my order. My F2S connection was cancelled on the 1st September but when I phoned Sky they informed me that their customer services rep shouldn't have taken the original order (because of LLU issues) so I would have to wait 7 days until that order was cancelled . The Rep that said this agreed to phone me back last night but failed to do so . I phoned sales at lunchtime today and have finally managed to order my Max connection, and the router should arrive within the next 10 days. According to the Rep my line is now clear. When I questioned him regarding an activation letter/password he just said plug in the router and away you go .

Could someone confirm that I'll receive a userid/password letter as well as the router. Setup shouldn't be too difficult as I was using a DG834G anyway.

Well the clock is ticking ......

      Order Date : 8th Sept 1:30pm ish
      Router Arrived : TBA
      Activation Date : TBA
      Service Live : TBA

      Regards

      kaitain

User/Password NOT required to connect to SkyBB (its hardcoded into the router and you cannot get to it).

The user/Password that they wil send you is for accessing the Sky BB portal which is down more often than not!

Well I can confirm that the username/password is just for the sky portal, for emails etc.
My letters arrived in a couple of days and the router in about 4 days.
The router requires no username/password as such, it authenticates by mac code AFAIK.
      Just plug in and go!

Hope it all goes smoothly for you.

Some Advice.. Its always advisable to inform your old ISP as soon as you have migrated that you have moved.

Thumbs up Things are moving forward

Well the router arrived yesterday possibly whilst I was writing the previous post. So 2.5 working days (4.5 actual) for the router to arrive including the ordering day. Sky has been awarded a gold star for delivery.

      Order Date : 8th Sept 1:30pm ish
Router Arrived : 12th Sept (sometime)
Activation Date : 19th Sept (Officially)
      Service Live : TBA

I just wish I could get my activation date moved forward. I was slightly surprised at the size of the router. I've got a DG834G v1 already from my Freedom2Surf days and the new one is half the size. Hopefully the admin screens haven't changed that much. I'm going to set it up tonight and make sure that my XP and Vista Beta machines can connect.

      Regards

Nope the admin screens are more or less the same in most NetGear routers so you not get lost
