    need help with download speed

      need help with download speed

      i think my speed should be much better
      i have just disconnected terminal 3 the ringer in my master bt socket here are my detailed stats before and after got a feeling my speed is capped

      as you can see disconnecting ringer has made router sink at about 3000kbps more so should my download speed increase from 2396kbps

      im on the colchester exchange EACOL

      Welcome to the forum

      No - you've not been capped as your two sets of stats clearly show (in any event capping's not relevant for Connect).

      What they also clearly show is that you have a major problem with noise that is arising in your home wiring/equipment which you have removed or at least reduced by disconnecting the ringer wire. Fitting a replacement filtered faceplate would have given the same or better result with other benefits.

      Download speeds aren't the same or as predictable on Connect as on Sky's LLU products. First there's the effect of the rate adaption, MSR etc, second the limits of the BT connection (or more accurately how it has been set up to maximise bandwidth utiliisation). However, it could be that you need to make some adjustments to your TCP/IP settings. See the second sticky in my signature at the bottom of this thread.
