    Can't connect to router or internet

      Angry Can't connect to router or internet

      My problem is:

      - Can't surf the net
      - Can't browse to my router

      My setup is:

      - Using ethernet cable, not wireless
      - Firewall turned off
      - Phone line working fine

      Location Area Connection Status:

      - "Connected at 100Mbps"
      - Packets sent 16, packets received 4.
      - No yellow error icon by Network Connections icons

      Action taken so far:

      - Changed lots of IP settings
      - Got new router from Sky, still doesn't work

      IPCONFIG gives me the following info:
      IP Address : 192.168.0.2
      Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
      Default gateway: 192.168.0.1

      I can ping 192.168.0.2 fine, but pinging 192.168.0.1 results in "Request timed out"

      Browsing to 192.168.0.2 in Firefox gives me "Can't establish a connection to the server". Browsing to 192.168.0.1 gives me "the connection has timed out"

      My Local Area Connection settings are "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically"

      I had a similar problem. After altering numerous settings to try and improve my connection I couldn't log onto my router homepage. It materialised that I'd accidentally changed the IP address of my router. Have you changed any of the router settings? Try 192.168.0.2, 192.168.0.3 and so on if this could be the case.
      Other than that, try resetting your router using the button on it.

      You have a thread running in the Router section about this. It causes confusion when you ask the same thing in different sections. Did you check the NIC you are using?

      What NICs are listed in your Device Manager?
