Not a day goes by without an error type 300...

      Hi there,

I've only just gotten on to Sky the other day (the 27th April), and since then I've had the connection drop because of error type 300's on a daily basis, sometimes several times per day. To fix this I follow the instructions found on the forum, and power off the router, reboot it later on, etc. But it's really, really tedious to have to do that daily.

When I was on the Virgin Broadband with my standard Netgear DG834G router it was very, very rare that I lost connection to the 'net, and even though my wi-fi wasn't very powerful it was certainly a lot more stable than with the Sky branded router, which drops quite often.

I'm on the Max package, about a mile or so away from the exchange (as the crow flies). The stats from the router look like this:

      ADSL Link (Downstream/Upstream)
      Connection Speed 10594 kbps / 764 kbps
      Line Attenuation 37.0 db / 21.4 db
      Noise Margin 7.0 db / 13.0 db

The best speed I've gotten is around 12MB with the noise margin in the range of 5.5db. Of course, those attenuation and noise margin figures don't really mean anything to me.

So really I'm just wondering; is this usual? Is this stale session problem the fault of Sky or BT, or is it just one of those things? (Which I can't believe because, as I mentioned, Virgin never gave me this problem.)

      Any help is appreciated!

      Thanks,

      Andy
