      Connecting 2nd laptop to router

      hi

i am having problems connecting my laptop to the router, i was doing a wireless search but it keeps coming up with an error message stating something about 1024bits error when i am typing the SSID into the wireless connection.

When i set up the main pc i never had such a problem and i am confused as to what i am doing wrong

My laptop is running MS XP PRO.

Your laptop is probably using WEP encryption, the router is configured to use WPA (a more recent encryption).
Check you laptop encryption in the properties of the wireless connection, if it is WEP and you dont see an option fo WPA do one of the following.....

Option 1 - Upgrade your laptop wireless drivers/firmware to allow WPA (if possible)

Option 2 (simpler) - Go into your Sky router config and change the wireless encryption to WEP. Note: you will need a different key to the one that Sky sent you - this can be obtained from the same router config screen.

Do you mean upgrade the drivers for the wireless card?

Yes (thats if your card doesnt currently allow you to select WPA encryption).

Probably easier to change the router to WEP encryption IMHO.
