    Sky broadband activation date?

      Sky broadband activation date?

      I got my router today but had not had an activation date or anything else from Sky.

      Accoring to BT's order checker it has an estimated date of 3rd may.

      Will this be right and when should I hear from sky?

      The 3rd of May sounds about right if you router turned up today. Your letter should arrive around the same time as well or you might be lucky and recieve the letter after you have been activated, as I did (along with my missing router).

      Letter came today and confirmed 3rd May

      Anyone know how you know it is activated? Do you get cut off and then try the sky router?

      Yes, when your existing service is cut, plug in the Sky router and keep checking for when it syncs. When it does you are back on line. Depending on your luck, it could be anything from a few minutes to a few days

      I got a router letter and activation date, yet the order was cancelled, call them if no further communication by Wednesday.... good luck!

      I order SKY Broadband Max package a few weeks ago. The router was delivered a few days later and the letter said I would be activated on 19th April but please allow 3 days.

      The 3 days passed and I was still not activated and still able to connect to my Tiscali account which I had the Mac code for and had already given to SKY. I waited a few more days and then decided to call the help line on 24th April. I was told I was activated on 21st April. They said even though it was weird that I was still connecting through Tiscali I should set up the SKY router and it would work.

      I set it up and nothing happened. The install disk would throw up an error when it went to check connection. I called them back and they ran through a few things with no joy and then finally said to wait until midnight it it might work then.

      Well it didn't, nor the next morning either. So I rang back and was transferred to someone else who tried more things with the router until I got an error 200 error. He gave me a tier 3 ticket number and said wait 3 - 5 days and they would call back. 5 days passed and nothing.

      I rang back on 27th April to see if anything was happening. The woman was just ignorant and just tried to brush me off. She didn't even want to know about the ticket number I had been given. Her reply was to wait 3 - 5 days. I told her I had already waited 8 days since the 19th and waited 6 days from the 21st.

      It is now the 29th and I am still connecting through Tiscali. I don't want to call SKY any more as they will just add another 5 days on to the whole thing.
      But once it's sorted if ever I will call them and refuse to pay my bill from the 19th. I want billing from the day it gets activated.
