More Stats - What does it all mean?

I'm on Connect and after about a week's running can't figure out what my modem stats are telling me. Leaving the stats page running lets me note down the figures to see how things change. The line attenuations (up/down) remain constant at 43 and 28db. The thing I find strange is the connection speed varies inversely with the noise margin. For example:

      Reading Yesterday Today
      Speed Down 6720 3552
      Noise Margin 6.0 13.1
      Attenuation Down 43.0 43.0

Is there a factor other than the ones discussed in the stickies that would explain why this is happening? What does it tell me about my prospects for a year on Sky Connect?

      Cheers, JaX

That's how it works. All explained in the first sticky in my signature at the bottom of this post.

One thing to note however. Connect has a 10 day training period during which time your connection speed will vary until the exchange finds the maximum stable speed for your line. Don't try and alter any router settings with any utilities such as Mognuts. If you do you'll quite possibly mess things up. The best thing you can do is have your router connected directly to the master socket during this time (and after preferably).

Sit back and relax until the training period is finished and then see what it stabilises at.

So a large Noise Margin will reduce my connection speed. I thought it was the other way around. Ah well.
I'll let things take their course till it's trained, but I can't see me being given more than 3mbps. It's never gone past that since I started so the '8mbps' for Connect isn't gonna happen.
      Cheers, JaX
