      Intermittent Internet connection

Hi. My internet drops all the time and the longest I have had a connection is 2 hours and more often it drops every 15 - 30 mins. I have had tier 3 look at it and say my line should be able to support 8 meg on the mid package. They sent me another router which hasn;t solved the issue.
I have implemented all the tips on here. Just thought I would post my stats and see if anyone could see anything obvious:

      Re: Intermittent Internet connection

You have periods of high CRC errors, have you tried plugging into the test socket behind the master face plate?

Does that include turning off UPnP? Losing connection every 15 minutes is a classic UPnP problem.

Now someone correct me here if I'm wrong (not use to seeing stats from the router) but it appears you have been up for just shy of 5 hours, as opposed to the 2 hours max you referred to. Can I ask if you are connecting wireless?

      Re: Intermittent Internet connection

I have tried the test socket and have UPnP turned off.

I am expecting my second priority call back from tier 3 today, so will have to see what they say.

      Re: Intermittent Internet connection

Tier 3 never called me back in the time frame they stated. So I called my self and after 45 mins got through to tier 3. My line had been going up and down all night as usual. On the phone to Tier 3 and the line stayed connected. The guy in Tiewr 3 said 'This line has some of the best stats I have seen in a long time'. He could see nothing wrong and said to call back if it happens again as he really needed to see it dropping to be able to do anything.

I am stuck now cos I am not phoning and racking up more costs on the calls.

Is trying another router (non netgear) worth a try?

      Re: Intermittent Internet connection

Yes I am using wireless. However I have the same issue when performing some tests connected directly via the ethernet cable to the router.

      Re: Intermittent Internet connection

I had a similar problem to yours, my connection would drop and I had to reboot the PC and modem to get it back up again.

Have a read of this thread, as it sorted out the problem for me. It may also help you.
