No. With an attenuation of 44db you're at the point where ADSL2+ and G.DMT will give similar speeds. However, G.DMT is likely to give you a more stable connection.

That said, your connection speed for 44db is rather low (you should be getting closer to 8000kbps. What connection speed do you get with your test socket (hidden behind the faceplate of your master socket - assuming you have an NTE5)?

      Re: please advise on stats

No - wireless won't make any difference to your connection speed only your download/upload speeds.

Your connection is improved in the test socket - a faster connection speed at a higher noise margin. Were you to fit a filtered replacement faceplate and connect your router directly to it you would see this improvement permanently.

Even so, your connection still isn't quite as good as it "should" be. I'd guess this is down to a noisy BT line. Can you hear any hissing/crackling on voice calls?

      Re: please advise on stats

thanks again ur a real star as for crackle....... here we go again at times i got more crackle than rice crispies and other times its clear as a bell. i used to be on aol (dont get me started on them!) anyway i used to get cut off every now and then and when i checked my home phone it was nothing but snap crackle and pop. on leaving the phone off the hook for 1-2 mins maybe longer at bad times it would go and i would be able to reconnect to the net. i have had 3 bt engineers out and not 1 has managed to fix the problem all stating that they dont know. apparently they have tried everything including fittine a new line from the pole and checking the exchange but still no better anything i could try my end to improve my speed?

No there's nothing you can do to improve your speed over what your test socket test showed.

Intermittent line faults are a real problem for BT to deal with. All you can do is put up with it or ask them to try again. Your contract with them means they have a duty/obligation to rectify any voice/fax faults.
