      Local Area Connection

Can't access internet initially because message comes up saying 'a network cable is unplugged.'

Checked all cables and they are fine but I can then access the internet after a few minutes.

Very puzzling! Has anyone else experience this before?

      Re: Local Area Connection

Yes. That's what used to happen to me, every few minutes. Eventually, I realised that it was Sky's router which was the problem. So I put it back in the box and used my own router instead, and that solved the problem.

If you have another router, or can borrow one, try it. If you don't know how to find out your Sky username/password (which you'll need to put in the other router) then read this thread:

How to obtain your username and password from the sky router Either follow the instructions in post #1 or, if that's too hard, download the program in post #4 and run it.

DISCLAIMER. All of the above works for me, but try it at your own risk.

      Re: Local Area Connection

Either fault with Router as stated, or fault with your ethernet card or maybe even the actual ethernet cable.

How long does it go offf or when it does?

Does the Number light on the router go off? If so plug the yellow ethernet cables into Port 1 and other end into Port 4 to see if Both lights come on, if they do then it may be your ethernet card on your pc, if not ring tech support and request a new router, free, your obviously within 12 month warranty.

      Re: Local Area Connection

I used to get this message a few years ago when I was with BT, I never did manage to track down what the fault was so I just disabled the error warning.
