    erratic performance/connection

      Question erratic performance/connection

      Hi,

      Hopefully someone can shed some light on this.

      I've just got Sky max but the connection has been erratic to say the least since I was first connected.

      The speed of the connection is never consistent- I live in MK which is notrious for poor connections but even so, the max speed has never exceeded 2mb- not quite 'max.'

      More worrying is the tendancy for the connection to regularly disconnect and at certain times to slow to a crawl. I have checked the channels nearby and there are no conflicts in that respect, and the issue happens even via an ethernet cable.

      At weekends the problem becomes worse. Last Sunday I had a desktop and two laptops connected to the router (excelletn signal) but none could access the internet. This seems to point to the line.

      So, contention ratio? Miles from the exchange? Anyway I can improve the speed and reliability?

      You could extract your detailed router stats using this Sky Netgear DG834GT utility version 0.4 and post them here to see if they show any problems.
