Did your Internet SUDDENLY go off?

Was it all great? Then BAM! your Internet has suddenly, mysteriously! Stopped working? AND! Has your Internet Light gone OFF on your Router?

More than Likely your line has been Hijacked, or oops.. you didnt pay your telephone Bill in time...
This can be fixed but does take anything from 2-4 weeks..

Normal procedure is to contact Sky Tech Support.. Advise them that your Internet light has gone off, you WILL be asked to perform simple tests, like rebooting the router etc etc, just go along with it! THEY HAVE TO DO THIS!
Sometimes you may find that this works.. and that your line wasnt ceased afterall!!

Okay so once tier 1 discover, 30 minutes later that its actually a tier 2 isssue, then you will be transferred to tier 2 who will then call BT, check if and when your line was ceased, if it is the case they will then send a Fault report to TIER 3 bt Provisioning Department who will clear your line, and your case will then be sent to the SRT - Service Recovery Team who will in turn, re-order your broadband.
Lengthy process, but this is totally out of Skys hands, some lines do get Hi-Jacked for reasons unknown!

      So be patient.

Re: Did your Internet SUDDENLY go off?

Line's get hijacked when a customer who was with another ISP on the rebranded BT Broadband Max has migrated to Sky but not actually cancelled their old connection and the old ISP installs LLU kit in an exchange and send bulk migration orders to BT. These can also be confused with failed migrations, but with failed migrations the line would have never worked.

However I should also add that lines have been ceased on many occassions by BT for no apparent reason.

Two different issues, one needs to be sorted by Provisioning (ceases) and the other by a specialist in Tier 3 (hijacks).

It is also worth noting that in many Hijack cases the customer may be experiencing an error code 200 with the internet light on their router lit.

There was a nationwide glitch in the Sky service last night at 21:45, which lasted for about three hours. I rang Sky about it and an Indian man eventually told me it was at their end!

No hijacking, no payment problems, just a blown fuse, or the cleaner stepped on the server's power lead !

Yes, I am sure thousands of users thought their connection had gone down and phoned the CS. Sky must have made a lot of money from it, I wonder if they do this now and again to raise funds.
