hi all this is my 1st post and i checked the FAQ section but i didnt see any information regarding my query.

I have had broadband for over 5 years. and i was suprised when i contacted sky customer service with my MAC code , that because i have the BT light user scheme i am unable 2 recieve sky MAX product until i contact BT and ask them 2 remove the light user scheme.

      Re: BT light user scheme

What is the light user scheme?

As for Sky, when on LLU products, Sky are using there own hardware instead of BT's so I suppose it could be something to do with incompatibilities or something.

If you were to go on Connect, you are still using BT's hardware, so you may get away with it, but would be financially worse off. (7 a month)

      Re: BT light user scheme

It seems you must come off the light user scheme before you can get broadband. If you put 'BT light user scheme' in Google you will find lots of references to this. It does not just apply to Sky.

      Re: BT light user scheme

      thx 4 your quick reply

the BT light user scheme is for ppl that dont use their landlines 2 make many calls. I might make maybe 5 calls per quarter so i get a rebate on my line rental. The monthly BT line rental is about 11 so a quarter wud make the rental charge 33 aprox. My quartly charge including rental and calls are about 11/12 per quarter. I can offset the extra cost of the line rental by having the sky MAX product, (which is cheaper than my current broadband isp) but just wondered why the BT light user scheme is a no no with the sky MAX product.

      Re: BT light user scheme

Well, we know Sky are going to be doing line rental @ 9.00 per month, so you will get some more back if you change to them when they launch it.

Thx for the headsup on the light user thing - was not aware of that. No good for me though as my wife uses the phone more than the dish cloth

As I point out above, it is not just with Sky, I imagine that this is an BT requirement, ie, BB will not be supplied on what are subsidised lines, the fact that the line is/may be unbundled does not seem to matter.

      Re: BT light user scheme

We are on the ligt user scheme because we do not make many phone calls, our line rental is more than the value of calls we make and I have never heard of this issue before. I am currently on the Connect package but plan to move to the Mid one, will I have any issues ?

      Re: BT light user scheme

From wat i understand from ppl i have chatted with is that the BT light user issue only seems 2 apply if u r wanting the sky MAX product. Why it only applies to sky MAX package im not sure.

I have been checking in my daily paper for sky Adverts since i started this thread, and i came across a sky advert in the daily telegraph....and it said in the very small print at the bottom of the page....not available to BT light Users or if outgoing calls are barred.

BTW thanx 2 all the people who have contributed 2 this thread.
