I can't describe the wave of satisfaction that rolled over me as I realised my welcome pack is no longer in the hands of those pillocks at Sky.

Now I just have to contend with the pillocks at Parcelforce who never leave a missed delivery note if I'm not in

      Nemesis:

As far as I know, the obstruction they are referring to can be one of the following:

      1) There is BT Redcare on your line (basically, you should know if you have it or not. It is a remote alert service for intruder alarms).

      2) You didnt leave enough time after your previous broadband service was ceased and there is still a flag on your line at the exchange obstructing your connection. In this instance, you will need to wait for a week or so, perhaps calling your old ISP to confirm that they have removed your line tag. Once this time has passed, reorder with Sky. START A NEW ORDER RATHER THAN CONTINUE THE OLD ONE IF POSSIBLE! SKY HAS A PROBLEM WITH THEIR ORDERING SYSTEM WHICH MEANS A PREVIOUSLY FAILED ORDER WILL FAIL AT EVERY STAGE!

      3) If you have never had broadband and your line has a flag on it, get the account holder to call BT and ask them to remove it. They usually do it within 48 hours.

Re: How long for welcome pack to arrive?

      You're welcome.

You might just find the best policy is to sit back for a week or so before doing anything. As far as I know, it is rare for an ISP to leave your line tagged when you leave. It might just take a few days.

In my case, I should have known better. I had exactly the same problem when I signed up to my last ISP (beunlimited) and watched a close friend of mine have the same trouble when he signed up with Sky.

I suppose good customer service is about what you do when things go wrong. Sky take note!

Re: How long for welcome pack to arrive?

      Hi There

Firstly, HOORAY! My welcome pack arrived today and I'm up and running. I'm getting 15.5Mb sync down which is about 500k less than I was getting from my last ISP but at 14pm cheaper, im not complaining. Actual download speeds are just about the same as before.

I think re-ordering is usually fine. However, keep an eye on timescales and keep a records of dates. For example, if your welcome letter hasnt arrived after 7 days, chase them. If your welcome pack hasnt arrived in about 7 days, chase them. If they tell you they will call you back, wait 24 hours and call them. Never let them rest!

As for your router, I'd just hold onto it and see what happens. I wouldnt be suprised if they send you another one!

Re: How long for welcome pack to arrive?

Well I re-ordered today, I'm hoping they send me another router .

15.5 MB symc is pretty cool, I'm only capable of 2.5MB, how I envy guys who moan they've been capped at 8MB.
