How long should the sky router take?

This is a discussion on How long should the sky router take? within the Sky Broadband help forums, part of the Sky Broadband help and support category; I still not received my router as of today. Pretty disappointed. How do I find out my activation date? Letter?...

You could try the BT order tracker.

Re: How long should the sky router take?

I had a letter come through from Sky on Saturday, my live date is tomorrow, however it says something about "Due to demand, allow an extra 3 days." however the Order Tracker shows a provision booked for LLU tomorrow.

I just hope it goes alright, the BT Estimator is faulty for my line, it tells me I can't have more than 2MB on ADSL Max, which isn't true as i'm sat on 8MB Full Sync at the moment, so I do hope that doesn't affect me at all tomorrow.

EDIT: Forgot to say, I had the order put through on the 5th April, and my Sky Router arrived on the 16th April.

If you get activated before you receive the router, you'll be without the 'net 'till it arrives

Although it's possible (but against Sky's Ts&Cs) to use an alternative router on a Sky Broadband connection, you'd need the ADSL username & password... & these are stored in the Sky router.... so there's no way of obtaining them until you get the Sky router.

      Thanks for your replies.

I got my router today , which I'm mostly please about... also I'm expected to be switched to Sky on the 20/4, so if all's well, I should be up and running by Friday.

In summary Sky are liars. Good luck.[/QUOTE]

I received my router well in advance of the quoted activation date and activation happened on the exact day promised. Mixed experieces seemingly rather than a set pattern.

Yep. Tis abit mixed. I just hope I have a positive experience with SKY, after moving from AOL. I do think AOL are great though.

I think the problem with the routers only tends to happen when you are getting Connect. They wait til that is connected before sending them.

Re: How long should the sky router take?

That doesn't tally with us - we've got Sky+ for TV, and we've signed up for Sky Max Broadband, and we're still waiting for the router; this morning, all they could tell us was that it was "waiting delivery" - whatever that means. 9 days so far without Broadband, since we were activated.

Re: How long should the sky router take?

My parents ordered the Mid package 3 weeks ago and are in exactly the same situation having been left without internet access for 9 days now due to the router still not having turned up. After their last call to Sky on Tuesday they were told the router was "definately" in the post (same as they had been told on every other previous call to them) and that they would get their router within the next 10 days. Let's just say they aren't holding their breath. Sky seem completely unconcerned about the whole situation...nice to see they are so caring about their customers.
