Bah, didnt want to POWER down the router so used the disconnect/reconnect earlier but at 64k I was stumped.

Powered down now my large transfer of files from one PC to another is complete and rebooted.

Now speed 8.7mbs - miles better but still very poor for me.

Is this router Sky supply a POS or what?

Next time it happens can you extract and post the detailed stats from here:

PLEASE READ FIRST: How to obtain and post router stats

There's no throttling or shaping on any of Sky's LLU services (Base, Mid, Max).

You said in the 1st post that your noise margin was 6.1 db... this is low, & could be why you were having problems.

thanks, was on Bulldog for 8 months which normally sets its margin at 6db and worked fine with never a sign of this problem. I know Sky normally operate at higher margin but 6db didnt worry me. I also knew Sky have zero throttling on max (but they could change that if they wanted.. after all a FUP is whatever they decide is fair!!)

I didnt spot how to look at CRC errors in the Sky router setup. I am used to using a Speedtouch 536 and 585 (the 536 still here and gathering dust I think). Maybe I'd best dust it off and use that. It cannot be right that as errors build up over days the Sky router just slows itself down to a crawl. With the Speedtouch I can use DMT to auto reboot it if the margin drops too low.

Re: Throttled? Crawling at 128k on MAX!??!

dq1 posted a link earlier in the thread explaining how to get the detailed stats & errors etc. if you want them.

I use Mossywell's "Bounce Sky Router" app

      http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/techn...matically.html

Great little app. Auto reboots the router if the net connection dies, can be used to automatically send the router custom commands to e.g. sync at a particular noise margin, and can also automatically tell the router to reboot if the noise margin drops below a user-defined level.
