      Connect to Mid/Max, anyone yet!!

      Hi all,

Has anyone successful got Sky to move them of the awful Connect service onto their own Network yet.

I have been waiting now over 5 months to be moved over and I am getting really frustrated with their attitide to the whole thing.

After badgering Customer Relations I got a very courteous and prompt response from Tier 3, the result of a 20 minute conversation with the agent ended in joint agreement that it would be best to be moved over from Connect asap so that Sky could tweak my line as their is a 5 day wait for BT to do anything on the Connect service and even that is extremely limited to what SKy can do.

Despite this agreement there appears to be no movement to move me across as I hate this 3 day wait period for throughput to come back up to nearly match your sync speed and the annoying drop outs that have happened on my line during the day time for no reason.

BT have checked my line and say there is no issue with it. I know I am 5.25 line distance from exchange and my line stats reflect this.

I am currenbtly connected at 2400kbps with 63.5db attenuation and 7.5db SNR. I jave been able to get up to a stable 2848 for well over 2 months without a single drop out but have not managed to get that for some time now.

I feel I am battering my head of a brick wall with sky, so has anyone actually had them move you over and if so what did it take and how quick.

I know some folks on here say they are being moved but very few actually confirming this move. So lets have a show of hands please....

I'm in the still waiting club, but I was told it would be done before the end of July so there is still a while to go as yet.

Unbelievably I got moved over today. Took nearly 3 months but it has happened. Amazing!

Also, I was put straight onto Max.

TBH I'm absolutely astonished that they got it right and that it has actually happened. I wrote a rather sarcastic letter to James Murdoch on the 19th March but didnt include contact details so sent them on the 22nd. It actually then took until the 28th to get a response saying:

"I regret to learn of your dissatisfaction regarding the level of service you have received, and you have my sincere apologies. I wish to assure you that we do wish to provide the highest level of customer service and I very much regret that your recent experiences failed to reflect this.

I am currently investigating this issue and will continue to keep you updated with the outcome."

Since then I haven't heard a thing and I've been so busy I haven't chased it up at all. Very odd indeed.

Re: Connect to Mid/Max, anyone yet!!

my connect speed dropped to dial up speed phoned sky and asked to go to mid package, was told that i would have to wait for mass migration later this year.
I phone the following day and told them if they didn't switch to mid i was leaving sky and going to virgin media. they agreed to switch 10 days later (yesterday) switched to mid now getting 3.8 mbps. what a result.
so bully them its the only way they will listen.

Good for those who are getting transferred over, I can't bully them as the only bargaining chip I can use is stay or cancel as VM is not available where I live.

I don't think one customer threatening to leave will make them listen and the Customer Relations person has gone all quiet on me.

Might give them a phone today and see what can be done. I have emailed James Murdoch till I am blue in the face and it makes no difference.

Re: Connect to Mid/Max, anyone yet!!

Sheesh so I'm still the only one so far that's polled as moved over after a delay. That makes me feel quite special indeed, although maybe others have moved over and are no longer visiting this site.

Still, if they've moved me over (and others as well) then the excuse that it is for technical reasons doesn't really hold water.

From reading various threads in the forum, you may find with this attenuation, 'upgrading' actually makes your connection worse.

THIS graph from the BE forum, suggests that you may only connect at about 2500. I don't really know how accurate this graph is, but as it is constructed from user information, and not theoretical, it should be pretty good. Have you done everything you can to reduce the attenuation?

My exchange is not due to be upgraded 'till July, or so I have been told, so I have not voted in the poll.
