      Exclamation Just rang Sky.

      Hello.

So i just noticed on the Sky checker that LLU is now a possibility, great i thought. Headed over to DSLZoneUK (DSL ZoneUK - broadband for everyone) and used the ADSL2+ download estimation tool.

      Downstream Att -> 30.0db

It predicted i would receive around 10-14MB service, however when i called Sky, they said i'd expect around 2.5MB service

Is this correct, or has anyone else heard this rubbish from them?

      Chris

      Re: Just rang Sky.

I don't think the ADSL tester is that accurate.

This is what my test said.

Based on the attenuation you entered, we estimate that your line can support around 16 - 22 Mbps on ADSL2+.

I find the above results a bit hard to believe.

      Re: Just rang Sky.

See i would like to go with a LLU service, but i think they are basing their results on the BTW checker, which still tells me that i should receive 2MB on ADSL Max when i'm currently getting 8MB.

      Anyone else have an idea?

In theory you should get the same as you are now if not better.

      Re: Just rang Sky.

If i dropped my stats in here, anyone care to have a guess at what i'll get, whats better than comparing results to existing customers of Sky Max.

These below are on an existing ADSL Max 8MB Service, newly joined, have yet to get Interleaving disabled, seems to of come on with the migration to a new ADSL Max provider even though stability is fine.

      Stats:
      Modulation: G.992.1 Annex A
      Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 448 / 7.616
      Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [GB/GB]: 1,09 / 8,12
      Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 11,5 / 19,5
      Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 17,0 / 30,0
      SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 23,0 / 11,5
Vendor ID (Local/Remote): TMMB / ALCB

      Re: Just rang Sky.

I have attenuation of 46db and can get over 8Mb on a good day (6Mb stable).

With your attenuation of 30db I would expect you'd get over 10Mb.

Im on Sky Broadband Max and my stats are:

/usr/sbin/adslctl: ADSL driver and PHY status
Status: Showtime Channel: FAST, Upstream rate = 764 Kbps, Downstream rate = 15323 Kbps
      Link Power State: L0
      Mode: ADSL2+
      Channel: Fast
      Trellis: ON
      Line Status: No Defect
      Training Status: Showtime
      Down Up
      SNR (dB): 13.1 13.0
      Attn(dB): 24.0 13.2
      Pwr(dBm): 1.3 12.4
      Max(Kbps): 18424 864
      Rate (Kbps): 15323 764

I get 13-14mb download speeds but if I test to see what speed I can get I'll have approx 7mb.
My Attn stats are a small bit less then yours so it shouldnt be much of a difference in speeds.
On the ADSL2+ test I get 14mb -18mb on the DSLZone website so I isnt far off what I get now.

      Here is some tests:

Namesco BroadbandMax Bandwidth speedtest | Test your ADSL connection speed

DSL ZoneUK - Speed test result

so you should get near what dslzone tells you.
