      You will sync at a lower speed but it should result in a more stable connection.

      I am no expert but starting to get my head round some of these figures , Your line attenuation seems very high 63db, I think below 40 is required for a fast connection, are you a long way from the exchange? You can also extract your detailed router stats using the mognuts util on the post above. This will give you detail about errors on your line. Guess its possible if it was all Ok b4 your line may have developed a fault. Have you tried the test socket?

      A previous post suggest fixing your noise ratio at 10db, This is not always a good idea because I think your main complaint was slow speed, fixing the noise margin will slow your speed even more, Its best to try to find the cause of the problem.

      Hi Guys,

      Thanks for replies.

      using test socket already

      increased the line noise to 10db sync rate dropped
      but made no difference to speed at all.

      used mugnots proggy already to get user name/pass
      great wee proggy..

      All I can suggest is that you follow this guidance PLEASE READ FIRST: How to obtain and post router stats
      and post your detailed stats.
      One of the site experts, not me, may be able to give you more advise.
