21CN Network - What Does It Mean For Me?

My exchange is due to be upgraded to BT's 21CN network in July with Broadband affected by August.

Does anyone with more knowledge than me Know what this will mean?

Will it only affect BT broadband customers or will Sky Customers see an advantage on their speeds.

Having gone for the Max package and only getting around 4.5mb would be happy if this give sme a bit more.

      Cheers.

      Hi Wayne

Don't know the answer to your 21CN question

      However this:

      "Mode: G.DMT
      Channel: Interleave"

Means that you have been capped by Sky. So if I was you I would get on the phone & ask them why. Bear in mind though that your downstream attenuation indicates that your line would only support upto 6meg down speed approx.

Also check out the first thread here http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/speed...etter-results/ for some assistance on optimising your connection

I was going to phone them but would I gain anything from getting moved over to ADSL2 at the moment as you said my line can only do about 6mb anyway.

I suppose it is worth calling just in case this 21CN thing gives me a faster connection.

Thanks Sassy. I have read the link but it is still a bit basic information wise. I contacted BT who said I should contact my Broadband Provider and Sky are just confused.

Will just have to wait and see.

21CN will most likely REDUCE your sync speed *slightly* due to the extra cabling that BT will be putting in place which will increase your overall length of your line.

Isnt there two parts to the 21CN switch over?
The PTSN and the IP switch?

Yes there is. I haven't got a clue what they are or mean but, for me, one occurs in July 2007 and the other is in August 2007.

      What are they?
