      Outlook Web Access

I have just joined Sky broadband from Madasafish (where I used toconnect
remotely to my office 6 miles away via Outlook Web Access)
I now can't make the connection and the 5 different tech support agents I have spoken to today don't even understand what I am trying to do.
I have been told on three occasions the laptop only works within 100 feet of the base unit. The other two kept refering me to Outlook express.

I know I need the Domain name\user name + password. Can anyone help please?
Technical Help!! - I don't think Skys agents know how to pronounce it, spell it
      or give it.

      Re: Outlook Web Access

Does it use any particular ports like RDP does?

If you can find that out we can help you out.

      Re: Outlook Web Access

I think you need to open port 443 on the router

      Supporting HTTP Access

I have just checked my router and it is in there already Port 443 as HTTPS(TCP:443) You will need to add the rule I think

      Hi,

You don't need any ports open at the client end to reach a OWA server. Can you tell us a little more about the failure? When you connect to the OWA server what error do you get? I use OWA at work to and connect to it from home via a web address https://exchange.mydomainname.com and enter my username and password as normal.

      Re: Outlook Web Access

What does your browser say when the conection fails??

I would say this is most likely due to the IP range not being recognised

OWA utilises sharepoint services in Windows Server, try here http://www.microsoft.com/sharepoint/community.mspx for a possible solution

      Re: Outlook Web Access

It's probably also worth mentioning that if you cannot connect, and you know you've got all the details correct, you should definitely contact your Exchange Server administrator first. Exchange can be a complex beast, and it is certainly not within Sky BB customer services remit to be able to help with it.

I think that Pyscho is probably on to something with the IP address range - perhaps your admin had your old IP address listed as an "allowed" address.

      Re: Outlook Web Access

      Hi all
      Thanks for your advice.
The main prob is when I try to log on.
      The opening page asks for
      Domain\ user name.....
      Password......
The problem is getting this from Sky. They tell me they don't work with domain names and don't support Outlook web access. (They also said that about outlook express & pop3 but that info was incorrect as pop3 works on Sky)
How best to get the log on info?

      Ian

      Re: Outlook Web Access

But sky has nothing to do with your OWA and they do not have your work domain\username details. I think you are getting a little confused.

Your work supply you with the username details - if these are not working then you need to talk to your Tech support chap at your office.

      Re: Outlook Web Access

Thanks - you are absolutely correct.
The user name \ password have been changed at work and I was rather muddled up - it's an age thing. Everything now works Ok as before.
Thanks for helping a silly old goat (if you pardon the pun)
      cheers
