      Email down tonight?

      Anyone else having problems getting their email tonight. Main account not working but sub account is OK. Tried the webmail but says incorrect login. Was OK from my PC at work earlier.

      Thunderbird seems to be syncing ok!

      I rang Sky this morning and they confirmed that they have had an email server issue since Tuesday and email across the network is being affected. They are working on a fix

      My Sky email has been fine all week as I have have had no problems sending or recieving.

      Been getting Email delays of between 2 and 6 hours for the last couple of days.
      Send mail to myself and wait and wait , sky.com email and Hotmail (pop) from my PC . Gmailed my sky.com and received almost straight away though.
      Emails from Ebay taking anything from half an hour to 4 hours to come through.
      Come on Sky how long does it take to fix a mail server.
      If it ain`t broke .... Kick the hell outta it till it is

      For all on the forum an update concerning my email problem and a security issue that will concern us all.

      With Outlook not accepting my password I rang sky on 30th March. I had tried to change my password on the website but it would not accept my mothers maiden name against my user name. Technical support said that the problem would be passed to the webmail team who would deal with the issue within 3 days.

      The problem persisted so I rang again on 5th April and was told that my problem would be passed to a supervisor and would be dealt within 2 days.

      The problem persisted until last night when I again tried to change my password and this time my mothers maiden name was accepted and the password change was accepted. I reconfigured Outlook and my emails since 30th March were received.

      There was a very interesting email from another sky user with the same initial and surname as me. On 30th March he was having problems of his own and tried alternative user names against his own mothers maiden name to change his own password. His mothers maiden name was different from my own but the sky user website accepted his answer to reset my password. He realised what had happened when he saw my profile on his screen.

      This throws up a serious security problem that we all need to be aware of. I would like to make Sky aware of this but if I ring customer services or technical support my call will no doubt be lost or ignored.

      That is quite a bad security issue, and one that Sky should be told of. You are fortunate that the other person was a member on these forums as he could have been just about anyone.
