Argh.. sick of CS.. could someone please answer some queries before i sign up

      Hi all,

Argh. just had a pointless 20 minutes trying to get information out of SKY CS!

I am currently with Tiscali and want to leave to take up the 5 a month SKY BB service.

I phoned CS to ask some questions and they passed me to everyone in the call centre and they each had a different answer, so was wondering if anyone here could shed any light on my queries.

      1. The SKY TV subscription is under my mothers name and comes out of her account by direct debit. Is there any way the 5 per month could come out of my account? One guy said yes of course if I set up another account, someone else said no. Does anyone else do this? It's not a big issue if it cant be done because I can easily give my mum her 5 every month, would just be easier if it could come straight out of my account.

      2. I have a BT Voyager wireless router. I use a laptop to with a BT wireless card and also a desk top with a BT USB key thingy to connect wireless via the voyager router. My question is.. can I still use the BT router, the BT laptop card and the BT USB key with SKY broadband or must I use their equipment? Again.. one person said yes and another said no!?!

      3. and finally.. is there actually a 12 month minimum contract? We've been SKY TV customers for a few years now. If I was to cancel the SKY TV about 4 months down the line, would I have to pay the remainder of the BB subscription of 40 (8 months x 5)

Any help would be greatly appreciated! x

**** I every much doult it! The Sky broadband is tied in with the TV package thats why you get it for that price. I wouldn't even bother trying, you have experienced Sky CS, and could get in a right mess trying something like that.

**** It is in Sky's terms and conditions that you use there router, but wireless is an international standard so your devices should work. Notice I say should!!! lol It's is possible to use another router but your user name and password is hidden in the Sky router and can be extracted using a util but as I say is against there t & c's.

Yes there is! if you cancel your TV contract completely you are likely to loose your broadband or be charged a premium for it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! x
      Hope this helps, Good luck.

Although you can use your router, uyou won't get any help from Sky CS if you do.....then, as you already discovered, that is no big loss....
