14.8 kbps!!!!! can someone please help me?

Hi. Firstly I'd like to say great site, lots of helpful info on here that I may need in the future if I ever get my broadband running properly lol. As you can see from my heading I've got a bit of a problem. Yesterday my Sky Broadband package was delivered and I installed all the software/hardware that came with it, when I eventually got online I found that the download speed was incredibly slow. I phoned the Sky helpline, but unfortunately the guy wasn't much help at resolving the problem telling me that I'd be called back within 48 Hrs after a line test was done (which wasn't required as BT already did one about a month before telling me I could recieve 2.5mpbs speeds). I've tried a few things to sort this out but none have worked so far. Just to note, I was a BT Broadband customer before using Sky and my speeds were fine (well acceptable shall we just say lol). Here is some info below about my TCP/IP test, and a speed test I recently done. I hope they are useful

Re: 14.8 kbps!!!!! can someone please help me?

Your distance from the exchange is going to limit you to a max speed of around 2500 kbps, as represented by your high line attenuation (63.5db). You are currently connecting at 1664kbps, so you may be able to squeeze a bit more out of your connection.

How exactly are you connected: are you using the wireless or extensions, what else is connected to the telephone socket. Try connecting your router directly to the Test Socket behind the faceplate of the Master Socket (If you have and NTE5 type socket). There is plenty advice on this in the 'Cabling and Faceplate Forum'.
