      Manual connection possible?

This might be a basic question but I've never used a router before.
I am thinking about joinig sky bb.

I don't like to be connected to the internet all the while my pc is running so
I would prefferer to manually connect/disconnect by clicking an icon on my
      desktop. A bit like a dial-up connection.

Would I be able to configure the Sky router/modem to do this?
Maybe via the Network Connection wizard?

Or login to the router and do it that way, should take seconds to do.

Can't get more manual than turning the switch off.
