      MSN messenger & UPnP

      Hi
I've been tearing my hair out today trying to get messenger working on my daughters pc. In the end it was the UPnP setting in the router which was stopping it - however i am positive it has worked in the past with UPnP disabled. Anyone have any ideas as I have read on here that having it turned on can cause problems. The only thing that I have changed with her pc is that it is now running vista
      cheers in anticipation
      dave

Nope XP. NR and Fibre are on vista so they may be able to comment.

      Re: MSN messenger & UPnP

I have turned UPnP off as it locks my router up, MSN works fine no problems apart from logging me out at midnight every night.

      Re: MSN messenger & UPnP

I'm running Vista and have been unable to use messenger for a few weeks, but I just turned off UPnP in the router and now it works fine.
      Looks like another UPnP problem..

I think you may be interested in this ITEM I came across. It might explain your router's 'Cinderella' complex! The Firmware referred to can be found HERE
