      Slow Download Speeds?

      Hi All,
I have just spent 20 mins on the phone to Sky "in India" getting NO where... but want to make sure im correct in thinking that my download speed should be slightly better?

Below are a load of screen prints that I have taken:

The results are very simular over evenings/weekends/morning etc...

First is my connection information from the router....

Second I have added 5 speed tests in total....

Does this seem right to any of you guys? I don't understand too much on how the connection speeds work etc so any help for anyone would be much appretiated!!

If there is a problem, can anyone explain exactly what it may be?

      Thanks for your help!

      Hi

Judging by your stats, I would expect a better test speed than what you are seeing.

I don't know if this would help, but you could try the advice in this thread.

No idea how it works, but it does a lot of the time, glad you are now sorted though

Do you want the technical answer or the simple?

In simple terms think of your connection to the internet as a series of pipes. The speed that data can flow is limited by the size of the smallest pipe. Windows often sets up a pipe size which is too small for a high speed ADSL connection so this forms a bottleneck. TCPOptimizer makes the Windows pipe the right size. No more bottleneck.

In technical terms ...... well, it would be easier to point you at the appropriate reading. Or you could Google the following terms: MTU, RWIN/TCP receive window.
