Win XP Pro - using vpn client to connect to work

I occasionally, maybe daily, need to connect to my work via vpn and replicate my Lotus Notes mail.
I have recently migrated to Sky Max from another ISP. I have created all the VPN enablement incoming rules in the Sky/Netgear router/firewall. However, no joy, the VPN fails to connect. My company's IT Dept. say they have come across this problem with Sky before, they suggested I change my ISP!!

I was also a naughty bunny and obtained my SKY user ID and password and reconfigured my trusty SpeedTouch 546 router which I used sucessfully with my previous ISP....... Still no joy on the VPN...

If this isn't going to work I will have to bail out and go back to my old ISP.
Anyone any idea as to what could be wrong. The company's VPN gateway is a Watchguard.

Also, out of interest does anyone get anywhere near 16mbs bandwidth?
With my old ISP I got 6.5 ,with SKY it's around 7.1. Uploads are a lot faster, my old ISP was around 385 and with Sky it's about 650. How do I get nearer 16mbs download?

Any help or pointers would be appreciated.

      Rgds.

      Stan

Go to Netgear's user forum. One of the moderators, June Mitsugochi seems to be an expert on VPN -- indeed, all her responses contain a link to her own site which specialises in it.

      Hello Fihart,

      Thanks for your reply.

I tried a Google for "netgear users forum" but didn't get anything useful...

Could you please post the URL.

      Rgds.

      P.S. Anyone getting 16mbs?
